There are a number of major works of original art on this page. Chief among these are such masterworks of early twentieth century American art as the famous etching, Night in New York, by Martin Lewis, a scarce lithograph entitled, Study of my Mother, First Stone, by George Bellows (George Wesley Bellows), George Elbert Burr's etching, Evening, Arizona, and a complete Book of Progressive Prints (18 Original Lithographic Progressive Proof Impressions), designed by J. C. Leyendecker (Joseph Christian Leyendecker) and printed and published in New York by the Latham Litho & Printing Company. Of no less importance is the full set of forty-seven lithographs for The Five Books of Moses by the prominent early twentieth century Israeli artist, Abel Pann, and a unique set of three working proof engravings by the nineteenth century Italian artist, Luigi Calamatta, for his contemporary portait of Felicite de Lamennais. Calamatta's engraved portrait, Murillo, is also included.
Other works of late nineteenth and early twentieth century etching are Almshouses, St. Cross, by Britain's D. Y. Cameron, Zwei Studienkopfe 'Two Head Studies', by Germany's Ernst Klotz, and Liegender Akt 'Reclining Nude' by Germany's Carl Josef Bauer.
The art of the Japanese wooodcut is strongly represented in Hokusai's, Yuki no ashita no Fuji (Fuji the Day after Snow) and by two Bamboo Motif Designs by Korin Furuya. Of related interest is Wilhelm Heine's, Public Bath at Simoda 'Shimoda'. This 1856 lithograph is the notorious suppressed plate from Narrative of Commodore Perry's Expedition to Japan.
Old master etchings and engravings are represented in Altra Veduta del Palazzo Dell' Ecc. Sig. Prencipe Borghese 'Alternate View of the Palazzo Borghese', by the Italian artist and architect, Alessandro Specchi, and in Lycidas: A poem by John Milton, by the English etcher and stipple engraver, Benjamin Smith. Our three works of modern art are a lithograph by the French artist, Alain Le Foll, an aquatint by the American artist, 'P. J. Rogers (Phyllis J. Rogers) and a drypoint by America's Peter Takal entitled, Jar, Clothespin and Flower.
