There are a number of major works of original art listed on this page that we offer for sale. Chief among these are such masterworks works by artists from around the world dating as early as the 18th century and into the 20th century. The first selection includes original graphic art, and drawings by the twentieth century American artists, such as Chaim Koppelman's three original lithographs, Git Li'l Doggie, Once We Were Two Smoothies and Over Brooklyn, Lawrence Murray’s original viscosity etching with embossing, Sunset II, an original deep etching and aquatint entitled, Dawn I by Ruth Rodman. Also present here are two original 19th century etchings by American artists, the first is Godey's Fashions For April, 1863 printed by Christopher Kimmel, 'Chr. Kimmel & Co. published for Godey's Lady's Book, Philadelphia and the other is Romeo and Juliet by Stephen James Ferris after Angelo Martinetti, and lastly for our American collection, we have an early 19th century lithograph entitled, Une mauvaise rencontre (A Bad Encounter) by the African-American artist, Jules Lion designed by the French artist, Jean-Auguste Bard.
In the second selection, eighteenth century British engraving is represented with an original stipple engraving by Benjamin Smith entitled, His most Gracious Majesty King George the Third based upon a painting created by the British artist, Sir William Beechey published by John Boydell’s for his 'Shakespeare Gallery' set, an original stipple engraving, Paradise Regained: Christ in the Wilderness by Moses Haughton Junior designed by Richard Westall for John Boydell’s set entitled, 'The Poetical Works of John Milton', two original stipple engravings entitled, Second Part of King Henry the Fourth (Prince Henry Taking the Crown) and Second Part of King Henry the Fourth (Prince Henry's Apology both engraved by Robert Thew after designs by Josiah Boydell created for John Boydell’s, 'Shakespeare Gallery', also listed is an original engraving by William Wynne Ryland depicting the portrait of Sir John Ligonier (Field Marshal John Ligonier, 1st Earl Ligonier). Included within our British 19th century selection of art are three etchings, one entitled, Holy Family (The Holy Family with the Infant St. John the Baptist) by Frederick Christian Lewis after Raphael and the other by his brother, George Robert entitled, The Holy Family after Fra. Bartolommeo, and The Ballad by John Dawson Watson, also included here is a selection of 19th century original etchings from Passages from Modern English Poes, Summer Indolence by Sir John Everett Millais, Nearing Home by Walter Severn, Sea Beach - Norfolk Fisherman on the Look Out (The Fisherman) by Frederick Bacon Barwell and two original etchings by Frederick Smallfield, Supping on Horrors and Winter Revels, Scene of the Plague in London, 1665 by Charles Samuel Keene's, The Little Shipwrights by Matthew James Lawless, Moonlight by Henry Moore, War and Glory by Sir John Tenniel and two original etchings, Sketching and The Punt by James Abbott McNeill Whistler and finally, to complete this selection, we have an original lithograph by the printer and artist, Thomas Robert Way based upon one of James McNeill Whistler’s partly destroyed paintings, Cremorne Gardens.
This next grouping contains artwork by two nineteenth century Swiss artists, the first is an original etching by Karl Bodmer entitled, Swans and the second is an original engraving by Johann Burge, a Swiss / German artist based upon a design created by Frans van Mieris entitled, Dame mit dem Papagei (The Lady with the Parrot). The 19th century French art listed here is represented by two original etchings, A Digger by Georges Belin-Dollet based upon a design created by Jean Francois Millet and Saint Mark's Column, Venice an original etching by an etcher known for his street scenes and architecture, Alfred Brunet-Debaines after a design by Richard Parkes Bonington.
This final selection features various important works by painters and printmakers from other Countries not listed above, such as the nineteenth century lithograph by the French artist Marie-Alexandre Alophe's entitled, L'Ange gardien (The Guardian Angel) based upon an 1836 painting by Henri Decaisne, the original drypoint engraving by the Hungarian artist, Bela Ivanyi Grunwald entitled, Tajkep gemeskuttal (Sweep-Pole Well), an original woodcut, Pheasants at the Shore by the 19th century Japanese artist Rinsai Utsushi and several other works of art by well known international artists of the 20th century, such as an original aquatint, La Famille (The Family) by the Romanian / French artist, Lica Roman, two original embossed and color intaglios (etchings), Canna and Mallo by the Chilean artist Fernando Torm-Toha, two original lithographs, Rhythm & Dance & Embrace by the German artist, Herbert Schneider we present Still Life with Shells, an original lithograph by the Argentinean artist, Andres Segovia and lastly, an original watercolor portrait of the Italian Opera singer, Mme. Eugenia Mantelli, the presentation piece used for her 1905 - 1906 American Operatic Tour and lastly, a 17th century engraving and etching for Antonium a Burgundia's, Linguae Vitia et Remedia by the Flemish artists, Jacobus Neefs and or Andries Pauwels designed by Abraham van Diepenbeeck.
