Art of The Print: Professions Portrayed in Art Index: This page contains a selection of original art with depictions of people in various professional occupations, such as the medical field with portrayals of doctors, dentists, nurses and quacks. The legal group contains depictions of judges, lawyers and the judicial system. The political profession include politicians and statesmen who have represented us in government in the past or issues relating to politics and the last category is businessmen.
Our Gallery, Art of the Print / www.artoftheprint.com offers a wide selection of international fine art. We sell original paintings, watercolors, drawings, monotypes, engravings, etchings, lithographs and other mediums of original graphic art. These works of art date from the Renaissance period to the contemporary art period. We guarantee the authenticity of every work of art 100%. Full documentation and certification is provided.
Businessmen: In this section will be found not only portrayals of specific businessmen but satirical commentaries upon the world of finance. In this latter category is the art of William Gropper. His work of art, "Top Man", is clearly an unflattering symbol of corporate wealth and power. Businessmen Portrayed in Art Index
Law: Lawyers, Judges, Criminals and Portrayals of the Justice System: The legal system has long been a favourite target of satirical art. Within this section are either laughable or damning representations of lawyers and judges by such famous artists as Daumier, Gavarni and Hogarth. Dark commentaries upon the legal system itself are provided by Charles Bragg and Karl Rossing. Benjamin Morrow's, "Justice on Trial", takes aim at juries. At the other end of the spectrum Ivo Saliger's, "Justice", provides an almost heroic view of the legal system where a lawyer defends his client from an unruly mob. Judges & Lawyers Portrayed in Art Index
Medical: Doctors, Nurses and Portrayals of Medicine and Health in Art: This category includes original art by such artists as Hogarth, Rowlandson and Whistler. Specialization in medicine is a relatively modern phenomenon. Thus in Thomas Rowlandson's eighteenth century etching, "The Tooth-Ache, or, Torment & Torture", a dentist lists his varied talents; "BARNABY FACTOTUM. Draws Teeth, Bleeds & Shaves. WIGS made here, also Sausages, Wash Balls, black Puddings, Scotch Pills, Powder for the Itch, Red Herrings, Breeches Balls, and small Beer by the maker". The Medical Profession Portrayed in Art Index
Statesmen, Politicians & depictions concentrating upon politics and government: Portrayals of such individuals as Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, William Gladstone, John Wilkes, King Charles I, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and William Pitt are found below. Contributing artists include Honore Daumier, William Hogarth, John Ogborne, Rudolph Pen, John Sherwin and Samuel Woolf. Statesmen & Politicians Portrayed in Art Index

You can also link to pages focused on the century you prefer or by the artists' nationalities.
The 'Professions & Trades' art index is set up in alphabetical order by the artist's last name. If you can't find what you are looking for here, please browse the image gallery or you can go to the animal, military, satirical or other pages set up for your convenience.
