This index page features a collection of original maps dealing with
all fields of cartographic investigation and geographical surveys detailing countries, cities and counties,
with depictions of their streets, forests and roads. Early maps are not only important for the historical
and geographical records of undiscovered lands, but sixteenth century to eighteenth century maps are also highly coveted
for their cartouches, decorative and artistic qualities. Our listing begins with the seventeenth century map makers,
John Seller, Cornelius Dankerts, James Rennell and Claes Vischer, followed by the eighteenth century cartographers,
Filippo Morghen, Charles Price and Emanuel Bowen and the 19th century artist, John Dower who engraved maps
for Orr's 1837 Atlas, "The British Cyclopaedia", Phineas Eldridge Hamm, well known for his engraved maps created for "Butler's Atlas of
Ancient Geography", also included is a collection of 18th century astronomical maps published by Louis-Charles Desnos
and Claude Buy de Mornas. These are only a few of the artists featured on this page.
We also provide search links to different categories ranging from
old master engravings and original fine art to speciality collecting such as
