Associated American Artists: the Associated American Artists of New York was founded in the mid 1930's. The Associated American Artists commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings and lithographs of no less stature during the 1960's as contributing artists included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns, Irwin D. Hoffman and Sidney Chafetz.
The Print Connoisseur: The Print Connoisseur published illustrated articles on contemporary etchers and engravers on a quarterly basis from January 1920 to December 1931. A minimum of one original print was commissioned for each issue and the more expensive; limited editions of 100 each contained a signed impression in pencil by the artist. During its decade of publishing, such major artists as George Elbert Burr, Frank Benson, Lynd Ward, Winkler, Preissig, Alan Lewis and J. J. Lankes contributed original etchings and woodcuts. This New York based publication was thus responsible for commissioning some of the finest original art of early twentieth century America.
Vervielfaltigende Kunst: A Viennese art publisher, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" issued its first original graphic work in 1871. During the following sixty years, it published masterworks by Austrian, German, Swiss, French, Czech and English artists. More internationally focused and less conservative than most print publishers of the time, it took a leading role in the revival of original graphic art. Vervielfaltigende Kunst is now regarded as one of the most vital art publishers of its day and individual prints from this publication are highly coveted by collectors.
