The Print Connoisseur: They published illustrated articles on contemporary etchers and engravers on a quarterly basis from January, 1920 to December, 1931. A minimum of one original print was commissioned for each issue and the more expensive, limited editions of one hundred contained a hand signed print. This New York based publication was responsible for commissioning some of the finest original art of early twentieth century America.
Vervielfaltigende Kunst: A Viennese art publisher, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" issued its first original graphic work in 1871. During the following sixty years, it published masterworks by Austrian, German, Swiss, French, Czech and English artists. More internationally focused and less conservative than most print publishers of the time, it took a leading role in the revival of original graphic art. Vervielfaltigende Kunst is now regarded as one of the most vital art publishers of its day and individual prints from this publication are highly coveted by collectors.

Condition: | Fishing Boats Returning to Dock survived a somewhat hostile framing effort. Its margins were thoroughly glued to the initial matte. It was saved only because it is on vellum, which is far stronger than most papers. As well, slight overall light toning exists within the engraving. Else, Fishing Boats Returning to Dock is in good overall condition and represents a fine (perhaps unique, considering its original function,) example of the Scottish art of George Houston. |
