Italo Valenti: One of Italy's leading painters and
printmakers of the second half of the twentieth century, Italo Valenti
studied art in his native Milan and in Rome. After the conclusion of the
Second World War Valenti turned almost solely to abstract concerns and
began to exhibit his paintings at major exhibitions in Venice, Naples,
Rome and Milan. By 1950, Valenti was recognized as a major international
artist and his work was shown in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Geneva and London. |
|
Throughout his career, one of the primary traits of Valenti's
art was his search for the effects of pure colours. Lithography (which
he first experimented with in 1962) became his primary vehicle for exploring
his concerns. During the latter 1960's and 1970's Valenti's boldly designed
lithographs pushed him to the forefront of avant-garde art. Today these
lithographs are viewed as crucial to the development of abstract expressionist
art of the period . |
