Waiting Room

Jim Sullivan's original color lithograph, "Waiting Room", owes its genesis to a December, 1981 exhibition held at the Thorpe Intermedia Gallery, Sparkill. Entitled, Chairs and more 'Chairs', the exhibition featured works by contemporary American artists dealing with, of course, chairs. As well as contributing this original lithograph, Jim Sullivan also provided two paintings for the exhibition, "Parlor Parrot" and "The Pigs are All right."

Within the lower margin of "Waiting Room ", Jim Sullivan has written, "approval to print II." This impression, therefore, was the second pulled for the printer's inspection. Some of the green additions to the birds, particularly in the outer margins, appear to have been added by hand, thus making this a unique impression.

Note:	Jim Sullivan: A contemporary American artist, Jim Sullivan earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and was awarded a European Honors Program in Rome. He completed his formal education with graduate work at Stanford University, California. During his career, Jim Sullivan has received such major grants and awards as the National Endowment for the Arts Grant, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Painting, the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Fulbright Fellowship in Painting in Paris.
	Today the art of Jim Sullivan is included in such institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Butler Institute of American Art, Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts, the Albany State Museum, University of North Carolina, Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, and the American Institute of Architects, Washington, D.C.

Condition:	Printed upon white, archival paper and with full deckled margins. Signed, dated, titled and annotated, "approval to print II", along the lower margin in pencil by the artist. Containing possible additions in hand coloration, as mentioned. A finely printed proof impression and in excellent condition throughout. "Waiting Room" represents a large and impressive, original example of the modern American art of Jim Sullivan.
