Brian Stewart: A fine American painter and woodcut
artist, Brian Stewart received his education in art from the Art Center
College of Design, Los Angeles (1964-1966), the Chouinard Art Institute,
Los Angeles (1966-1967), Atelier Lack, Minneapolis (1983-1985) and Atelier
LeSueur, Minneapolis (1987-1989). Since that time, Brian Stewart's landscape art has
been exhibited at such institutions as the Plein Air Painters of America,
California, the Oil Painters of America, Illinois, the California Heritage
Gallery, San Francisco and the Bennington Center for the Arts, Vermont.
He has also been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Stickley Museum,
New Jersey, Moorehead State University, North Dakota, and the Graphics
Gallery, Newport Beach, California. |

Brian Stewart's woodcut and paintings have gained awards
from Antiques and Fine Art, Art of California (1991), the Oil Painters
of America (1995) and the California Art Club (1998). A full member of
both the Classical Realism Society and the California Art Club, Brian Stewart
also served as a teaching instructor at the Minnetonka Center for the
Arts, Minneapolis, during the 1990's. |

As a woodcut artist, Brian Stewart's work is notable in
that he carves from five to eight individual blocks for each color. He
has also printed each impression himself, such as this original example
of "Lover's Cove" from his studio in Minneapolis. |
