Raphael Senseman: A fine American painter, watercolor and gouache artist,
Raphael Senseman was the nephew of the famous nineteenth century painter,
William Henry Lippincott, N.A. (Philadelphia, 1849 - New York City, 1920).
It is believed Senseman studied art techniques under his uncle. Raphael
Senseman began regularly exhibiting his art around the turn of the century
and was particularly active in Camden, Collingswood and Washington, DC.
Today the fine paintings and watercolors of Raphael Senseman are included
in many private and public collections. |

Primarily a landscape artists, Raphael Senseman also created a
number of cityscapes and figure studies. His finest work, however, is
generally regarded as his landscapes, particularly in his subtle use
of form, texture and color. |

Painted on thick, hand-made watercolor paper with the ‘Whatman’ watermark
and with full margins. Signed by the artist in the lower left corner.
Apart from several small aging spots in the sky to the upper left this
original watercolor is in excellent condition throughout and retains
all its fine, unfaded colors. "Country Road: Late Autumn "represents a
superb, large example of the landscape art of Raphael Senseman. |
