Elinore Schnurr: An important American figurative
painter and printmaker, Elinore Schnurr received her BFA from the Cleveland
Institute of Art and completed her studies at the Hans Hoffman School,
Provincetown and at Yale-Norfolk. Her first solo exhibition took place
in 1968 in Woodstock, New York. Since that time her art has been the subject
of exhibitions at Columbia University, the Cleveland Institute of Art,
Penn State and the Chautauqua Art Association Galleries. Schnurr's art
has also been included in major group exhibitions at the Butler Institute
of American Art, the Museum of the City of New York, the Cleveland Museum
of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and at the National Academy
of Design. |

During her career Elinore Schnurr has received awards from the Butler
Institute of American Art, Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach, National
Academy of Design (1986), Springfield Art Museum, New York State Council
on the Arts, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Public Institutions
that include Elinore Schnurr's art in their permanent collections are the Museum
of Fine Art, St. Petersburg, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of
the City of New York and the National Museum of American Art, Washington,
D.C. |

This impression of State St. Plaza is annotated, “Working
Proof 1/7”. In all likelihood this was then the first impression
pulled from the stone. The following six proofs would develop and strengthen
colors and forms. This is therefore a unique printing. |

Printed upon pure rag 'Rives' paper and with full margins as published
in New York in 1975. Signed, titled, dated and annotated, "Working Proof
1/7", by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. A finely printed
impression and in excellent condition throughout. State St. Plaza represents
a prime, original example of the figurative art of Elinore Schnurr. |
