Herbert Schneider's original lithograph, Embrace is a strong example of the artist's final and most recognizable phase where metamorphosed beings are placed in a world of vibrant colors and forms. Embrace, for example is dominated by strong tones of reds, yellows, greens and blues. And, as with most of Herbert Schneider's art from the 1970's and early 1980's, the unmistakable themes of passion and love are at the forefront. This untitled composition is signed and numbered by the artist along the lower margin. It is a fine, original example of the twentieth century art created by the German artist, Herbert Schneider. |

Note: | Herbert Schneider: A twentieth century German painter, lithographer and etcher, Herbert Schneider studied art techniques at the Art Academy of Stuttgart, under Professor Willi Baumeister. Several years later he moved to Munich and remained there for most of his career. Herbert Schneider's first one man exhibition took place in that city in 1961 at the Galerie Deutscher Bucherbund. In the following year his art was the subject of an exhibition at the Konzerthaus, Vienna. Since that time Schneider's original prints and paintings have been included in exhibitions in such cities as Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, Berlin, Augsburg, Munich, Bremen, Nuremberg, Philadelphia, Washington, Dallas and New York. |
Early in his career Herbert Schneider was best known for his abstract and cubist art. Beginning around 1965, however, the artist began portraying a bold, colorful world, inhabited by beings of his own invention. Some critics have seen his art from this period -- of which this original lithograph is a fine example -- as belonging to the genre of pop art. While comparable in the use of color and form, however, the main driving force behind Schneider's unique art is emotion, particularly the emotion of love. Passion guides the artist's choice of form and its intensity of coloration. This is clearly the case with this untitled composition, (Embrace), where strong tones of reds, yellows, greens and blues bring out the emotions. | |
