Gottfried Salzmann's New York Skyline is an original roulette and aquatint engraving printed upon hand-made, laid Arches paper and with full deckled margins as published in an edition of ninety impressions by Mechtild Widrich in 1985. This impression is signed and numbered by Salzmann in pencil under the plate-mark. In New York Skyline Salzmann contrasts the solid forms and vertical lines of the skyscrapers with the ethereal, textural elements of the sky above. It is a masterwork of form and tonal values and is a fine, original example of the contemporary graphic art created by the Austrian artist, Gottfried Salzmann. |
