Jeanine Coupe Ryding: An American etcher,
sculptor, woodcut and collage artist, Jeanine Coupe Ryding received her
BA from the University of Iowa (1971) and her MFA from the Hochschule fur
Bildende Kunste, Berlin, Germany (1977). She then returned to the United
States and began exhibiting her fine art in major national venues. Jeanine Coupe Ryding's
prints have also been included in international exhibitions in Japan, South
Korea, the Czech Republic and Finland. Since 1991 she has served as the
Adjunct Associate Professor, Printmaking, at the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago. |

Jeanine Coupe Ryding is a full member of the Mid America
Print Council, Southern Graphics Council and the College Art Association.
Today her fine woodcuts and etchings are included in such collections as
the Boston Museum of Fine arts, Des Moines Art Center, New York Public
Library, Portland Museum of Art and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Holland. |

Abstracted forms from nature and their emotionally charged
movements and patterns have been of primary concern of Jeanine Coupe Ryding's art. These
elements are clearly evident in this early and scarce woodcut entitled, Silent
Affliction. |

Condition: |
Printed upon mulberry (rice) paper and with large, full margins
as published in 1978 in the small edition of only five impressions. Containing
slight creasing in the outer margins as well as one masking tape stain
for each side of the paper (well removed from the actual woodcut), else
a finely printed impression and in very good condition throughout. Signed,
dated, titled and numbered, '5/5', by the artist in pencil along the lower
margin. Silent Affliction represents a prime, original example
of the woodcut art of Jeanine Coupe Ryding. |
