Note:	Charlotte Ross: An American painter and etcher, Charlotte Ross exhibited her art throughout the United States. The artist was particularly well known for her imagery of children. Her artist records are now housed in the Museum of Modern Art Archive, New York City.
	Sonata was commissioned by the Baltimore publisher, Ferdinand Roten and published in a sole edition of sixty signed impressions. With its haunting use of tone and coloration, it beautifully examines the mystery and wonder of childhood, symbolized by the image of a young boy playing his flute music.
