Amedee Rosier: A
French nineteenth century landscape and marine artist, Amedee Rosier
studied in Paris under Leon Cogniet and Carlolus-Durand. He began exhibiting
his art at the Paris Salon in 1857 and was a regular contributor there
for more than thirty years. During his career Amedee Rosier received
such awards as the 'medaille de troisieme classe', 1876, and a bronze
medal at the 1889 Universal Exposition. Today his art will be found in
public collections in Bernay, Compiegne, Mulhouse, Saint-Etienne and
elsewhere. |

Besides painting views within France, Amedee Rosier devoted considerable
time to depictions of Venice, Constantinople and Egypt. Cottage with
a Thatched Roof is possibly a preparatory drawing for one of his paintings
or watercolors. |

artist's estate stamp (cache de vente) to the lower right. Containing
a slight, horizontal crease in the upper margin as well as faint mat
burning in the outer left margin, else, this original Amedee Rosier drawing is
in good condition throughout. |
