Edouard Rischgitz was a Swiss etcher, painter and illustrator. He moved permanently to London around 1878 and created many of his most significant works of art there. This original etching and drypoint engraving, "Birds in Flight", was probably created around 1890.

Note:	Edouard Rischgitz 'Edward Rischgitz': A nineteenth century etcher and painter, Edouard Rischgitz, also known as Edward Rischgitz, was born and raised in Switzerland but studied art in Paris, under Diday, and worked there for a number of years. By 1878, however, he had moved to London and was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1881. During the following years his landscape and architectural etchings were exhibited at the Royal Society on an annual basis.
	Edouard Rischgitz also illustrated a number of books, such as "Lafontaine's Fables". His daughters, Alice Rischgitz (1856-1936), and Mary Rischgitz (active, 1883-1906), were also artists.

Condition:	Printed upon 19th century wove paper and with margins trimmed just outside the plate-mark on all sides. Else a finely printed impression with full, deep burr and in good condition throughout. "Birds in Flight" represents a fine, original example of the Swiss/English art of Edouard Rischgitz.
