Title: |
Kansas Dust Storm |
Artist: |
Rice, Fred 'Frederick Rice' (United States, Born 1921) |
Date: |
c. 1945 |
Medium: |
Original Aquatint and Etching |
Note: |
Fred Rice: "Kansas Dust Storm" is
both a compelling and mysterious work of original art. Next to no biographical
information appears to exist concerning the career of Fred (or Frederick)
Rice. Yet the Cleveland Museum of Art lists another impression of "Kansas
Dust Storm" in its permanent collection (Accession# 1949.66). Their
impression was gifted by the Print Club of Cleveland in 1949. The etcher
is listed as Fred I. Rice, an American born in 1921. |
|
It is therefore possible that Fred Rice had some connection
with the "Print Club of Cleveland" during the 1940's. In any case, this original
aquatint is a very accomplished work of art and a strong image of the
Kansas 'Dust Bowl' during the years surrounding the Depression era. |
