Note: | Celia Cregor Reid: A fine American printmaker and painter, Celia Cregor Reid was a native of Springfield, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and continued her artistic training at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Maryland Art Institute. In 1926, she moved to St. Augustine, Fllorida, where she became one of the leading members of the art colony. |
During her career, her work was exhibited at many major institutions, such as the Print Club of Philadelphia, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the 1939 World's Fair and the National Academy of Design, New York. Her linocuts and woodcuts received numerous awards from the Southern States Art League. C. Cregor Reid was also highly regarded for her decorative tiles and jewelry. | |
