Note: | David Rathman: A contemporary printmaker, David Rathman received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Since that time his etchings have been shown at numerous exhibitions, including shows in both New York and Berlin. Rathman has gained awards for his art from such institutions as the Jerome, Bush and McKnight Foundations. His work has also been recently the subject of one man exhibitions at the Franklin Art Works, Minneapolis, and the Clementine Gallery, New York. He has currently completed a suite of five etchings for the Highpoint Center for Printmaking which combine such techniques as sugarlift, spitbite, aquatint and drypointing. * |
Serenade dates from earlier in David Rathman's career, yet it is as complex both thematically and technically as his most recent art. It was in fact printed from three separate plates the artist created from 1984 to 1986. | |
