Note:	Viggo Christien Pedersen 'Viggo Pedersen': A Danish painter and designer, Viggo Pedersen studied art in Copenhagen and began exhibiting his art in the 1880's in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France and Holland. Known firstly for his landscape paintings and interior scenes his paintings from this time incorporate elements of both Impressionism and Classicism. Pedersen's paintings were awarded medals at the Paris Universal Expositions in both 1889 and 1900.
	During the early twentieth century Viggo Pedersen experimented with both more modern styles and forms of graphic art. In this latter category such artists as Askel Jorgensen (1883-1957), Johannes Larsen (b. 1867) and J. F. Willumsen (1863-1958) had created much interest in Denmark for the art mediums of etching, lithography and woodcuts. Marsh Birds clearly indicates Pedersen's mastery of the woodcut medium.

Condition:	Printed upon thick wove paper and with large margins as printed in Denmark in 1916. Signed, dated and inscribed "Original Traesnit (woodcut)" by the artist in Pencil along the lower margin. Containing some water staining in the left margin well away from the actual woodcut, else a strongly printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. Marsh Birds represents a fine, original example of the art of Viggo Pedersen and of twentieth century Danish graphic art.
