Note: | Hans Olde: A great German etcher and painter of portraits and landscapes, Hans Olde studied art under Loefftz at the Munich Academy and then completed his education in Paris at the Academie Julian. Olde's engravings, etchings and paintings were regularly exhibited in Germany, Austria, France and Holland. In 1899 his art received the Medaille d'argent at the Paris Exposition. |
For a number of years Hans Olde assumed the influential post of Director of Art at the Weimar Academy. Among his better known friends was the philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. Today examples of his fine art are included in major museums in Berlin, Dresden and Bremen. | |
