Minor then completed his artistic education at the Antwerp Academy, Belgium, under Joseph van Luppen.
Robert Minor then travelled extensively through both Italy and Germany before settling in England for a period of two years. During this time he exhibited his art at both the Paris Salon (1872) and at the Royal Academy, London. Around 1875 R. C. Minor returned to New York City and opened a studio in Washington Square. Several years later he settled in the area of Waterford, Connecticut.
