Gina Mikel: An outstanding American artist
who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Art Institute of
Chicago in 1988. She was the deserving recipient of the merit scholarship
from (1984 to 1988). Gina studied under the prestigious scientific illustrator,
Zbigniew Jastraebski among others. |
|
Many of Mikel's greatest works of
original art are in the demanding medium of the watercolour. However,
one must take notice that her paintings, drawings, and pastels also demonstrate
Gina's exceptional ability in the field of fine art. During her career,
Gina Mikel has proven equally adept in the depictions of landscapes, portraits,
still life and animal studies. Gina's recent illustration projects have
included illustrating, fish, frogs and birds for the JASON Project
produced by Wisconsin Sea Grand and Bird illustrations for Organic
Gardening Magazine. A recent watercolor of the World Trade Center
(painted during the week following 9-11) was printed in the local newspaper. |

Gina Mikel's illustration Website 'www.scientificillustrator.com'
has been online since 1996. Her Website provides a unique combination
of visual representations, biographical information, books, beneficial
recommendations and articles about scientific illustration and the artists
who have worked in this demanding field throughout the centuries. She

Not many masters of modern art have dedicated most of their
artistic talents to scientific illustration with the skill and brilliance
that Gina Mikel possesses. As one can observe from the extremely meticulous
detail, which she uses to illustrate her subjects to the most delicate renditions
of colour, perspective and tonal harmonies, she definitely deserves a place with
the great masters of scientific illustration. Such is the case here, with the illustration
of a majestic bald eagle. It is a prime example of the animal art created by the American
artist, Gina Mikel. |
