Gregory Masurovsky: A fine, international etcher,
lithographer and book illustrator, Gregory Masurovsky studied at the Art
Students League of New York. After working several years in New York,
Gregory Masurovsky moved to Paris, France (1954), where he still resides. Since
1957 important one-man shows of his art have been held in New York, Cleveland,
Paris, Berne, Munich and Frankfurt. |

In 1961, Gregory Masurovsky won the Critic's Prize for Drawing at
the Paris Biennale; in 1963 he was awarded the International Jury Prize
for etching from the same exhibition. He was the recipient of the William
Copley Foundation Grant in 1963 and, in 1964, was honoured with a comprehensive
one-man exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Artes, in Brussels. |

A leading artist of both the surreal and fantastic, Gregory Masurovsky
has been held in high esteem for many years. His original etchings and
lithographs are included in too many major public galleries in both America
and in Europe to list. The Museum of Modern Art in New York has one of
the most comprehensive collections of Masurovsky's original prints. |

Running Man was commissioned by the Associated American
Artists of New York in 1966 in a sole limited edition of 250 impressions.
Since its creation in the mid 1930's the Associated American Artists commissioned
original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart
Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings and lithographs
of no less stature during the 1960's and 1970's as contributing artists
included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns,
Gregory Masurovsky, Jack Coughlin and Sidney Chafetz. Masurovsky is known
to have contributed two original etchings to the A.A.A. during this time,
Running Man (1966) and Nude (1967). |

Printed upon hand-made, laid paper and with full deckled
margins as published by the Associated American Artists of New York in
1966. Signed, dated, titled and numbered, '4/250' by the artist in pencil
under the lower plate mark. A superbly printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. This original etching represents a prime example
of the famous 20th century art of Gregory Masurovsky. |
