Frederick Marriott's original etching, "Chateau de Josselin, Brittany" was published in London in 1925 in a limited edition of one hundred signed impressions. During his career Frederick Marriott specialized in etchings of architecture in such locations as France, Monaco, Corsica and Italy. In total the artist created over 120 original etchings as well as a small number of mezzotints. "Chateau de Josselin, Brittany" is a fine, original example of the early 20th century architectural art created by the British artist, Frederick Marrriott.

Note: Frederick Marriott: A late nineteenth and early twentieth century English etcher and painter, Frederick Marriott was educated at the Coalbrookdale National School and then received a National Art Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, London. His first original etching was published in 1882. After that date Frederick Marrriott’s art regularly appeared at exhibitions held by the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and at the Paris Salon. Marriott held the post of headmaster of Goldsmith’s College of Art from 1895 to 1925.
  Frederick Marriott was an Associate of the Royal College of Art and a full member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. Today his fine architectural etchings are included in such major collections as the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Condition: Printed on smooth wove paper and with full margins as published in London in 1925 in the limited edition of one hundred impressions. Signed and titled in pencil by the artist along the lower margin. A finely printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. "Chateau de Josselin, Brittany" represents a prime, original example of the early twentieth century architectural art of Frederick Marrriott.
