For this striking work of lithographic art, Marcia Marcus used a photograph of herself, age twenty-five, dressed as Athena. Marcia Marcus' brilliant use of imagery, colors and tonal values on a very large scale makes "Olympic" one of the greatest limited edition posters commissioned for the world Olympics. This original Lithograph is signed, dated and numbered in pencil by the artist. Olympic is a striking original example of the art created by the American artist, Marcia Marcus.

Note: Marcia Marcus: A major contemporary American artist, Marcia Marcus studied at New York University (BA, Fine Arts, 1950), Cooper Union (1950-52) and the Art Students League, under Edwin Dickinson (1954). Her first solo exhibition took place in New York in 1957. Since that time her art has been the subject of exhibitions at the Rhode Island School of Design, Vassar College, Ohio State University, Ursuline College and many more institutions. During her career, Marcia Marcus has also taught at many universities as a visiting artist, such as, Louisiana State University, Cornell University, City University of New York, Northern Arizona University and the University of California.
  Marcia Marcus has received the following awards; Walter Gutman Fund (1961), Fulbright Grant to France (1962-63), Imgram-Merrill Award (1964, 1977, 1982), Rosenthal Award (1964), Childe Hassam Fund Purchase (1964, 1971), Ford Foundation Artist in Residence Grant (1966), the National Endowment for the Arts Award in Painting (1991-92) and the Pollock-Krasner Award (1993). Today the art of Marcia Marcus is housed in many major collections including, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, the Provincetown Art Association, the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden, University of Colorado, Purdue University and University of Wyoming.

Condition: Printed upon offset white paper and with full margins as published in 1974 in the limited edition of 200 impressions. Signed, dated and numbered, '22/200' by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. A richly printed impression of the large, lithographic poster and in very good condition throughout. Olympic represents a prime example of the famous art of Marcia Marcus and the art created for the 1974 Olympics Games.
