Milvia Maglione: A leading Italian printmaker, painter
and artist of assemblages, Milvia Maglione has exhibited her art since
the early 1960's. In 1967 she was a contributing printmaker to the Dutch
publication, The Situationalist Times, along with such artists as Alechinsky,
Matta, Lam and Jorn. Living and working in both France and Italy, Milvia Maglione
has been the recipient of numerous government commissions. In 1991, for
example, she designed a series of postage stamps for the French government. |

Throughout her career, Milvia Maglione has dedicated much
of her art to the fascinating world of the child. Her art has long been
included in major exhibitions in Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy,
France, Germany and Japan. |

This original silk-screen was commissioned by Editions Sonet
of Stockholm in 1971. Altogether this publisher commissioned five original
silk-screens from Milvia Maglione and published them in a limited edition of
seventy-five impressions under the title of Promenades. |

Printed upon thin archival paper and fixed onto a thicker
paper by the publisher. Bearing the French Customs Seal ("Douanes Francais")
on the verso. Signed and numbered, '40/75', by the artist in pencil within
the image. A fine impression and in excellent condition throughout. This
large silk-screen represents a prime example of the art of Milvia Maglione. |
