Louttre B (Marc Antoine Bissiere): A leading French
painter and engraver, Louttre B is the son of the artist, Roger Bissiere
(1888-1964) and learned much of artistic technique and theory from working
with his father. His first paintings date from 1942 and his premier Paris
exhibition took place in 1944. Louttre B started to create engravings
with the artist, Fiorini, in 1960. He almost immediately began to experiment
with methods of combining both wood blocks and copper plates to achieve
a sculptural effect. Since that time he has created over eight hundred
and fifty works of graphic art which have been exhibited in major institutions
in Paris, Milan, Limoges, Bordeaux, Luxembourg, Lausanne and many other
centres. During his career Louttre B has also been active as a sand painter,
a sculptor and a designer of stained glass and tapestries. His art today
is included in many major public collections, such as the Musee des Beaux-Arts,
Bordeaux. |
