Leonard Lehrer's original engraving, "Formal Garden" is printed upon thick laid paper and with full, deckled margins as published by the "Associated American Artists" of New York in 1969 in an edition of two hundred and fifty impressions. This impression is signed, numbered and titled by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Note:	Leonard Lehrer: The former professor and chairman of the department of art at New York University, Leonard Lehrer's original drypoints and engravings have been published and exhibited throughout the United States since the mid 1960's. He has engraved plates as well for illustrated books such as, "Venus and Adonis" (1984) and "Moorish Roses" (1986). Leonard Lehrer's original engravings are now included in such major collections as the Butler Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
	After New York University, Leonard Lehrer accepted the post of director of the School of Art, Arizona State University and acted as a trustee for the International Print Center, New York. Since 2001 he has been Dean, School of Fine and Performing Arts, Columbia College, Chicago. Leonard Lehrer's original prints are currently published by Anchor Graphic, Chicago.
	"Formal Garden" was commissioned by the Associated American Artists of New York in 1969 in a sole limited edition of 250 impressions. Since its creation in the mid 1930's the Associated American Artists commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings and lithographs of no less stature during the 1960's as contributing artists included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns, Leonard Lehrer and Sidney Chafetz. The engraving depicts a landscape and architectural view of a formal garden.
