Hank Laventhol: Born in Philadelphia, Hank Laventhol
received his B.A. from Yale University and then completed his studies
at the Academia di Belli Arti, Florence, Italy. He lived and worked
a good part of his career in both France and Italy. During this time
his art was the subject of one man shows at such locations as the Galeria
Goldoni, Florence, the Galerie de la Madeleine, Brussels, Die Brucke,
Dusseldorf, and the John Whibley, Gallery, London, England. Today the
etchings of Hank Laventhol are included in the permanent collections
of Yale University and the Evansville Museum, Indiana. |

L'Image de Rose was commissioned by the Associated
American Artists of New York in a sole limited edition of 250 impressions.
Since its creation in the mid 1930's the Associated American Artists
commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood,
Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings
and lithographs of no less stature during the 1960's and 1970's as contributing
artists included Robert Bero, David Shapiro, Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman,
Joseph Margulies, James Kearns, Gregory Masurovsky, Jack Coughlin and
Sidney Chafetz. Hank Laventhol is known to have contributed at least
two original etchings to the A.A.A. during this time. |
