Ronald Kowalke studied at the Chicago Institute of
Design, The Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago, By
1960, Ronald began to exhibit his original etchings and aquatint engravings
in various exhibitions, primarily in New York, Chicago and in Philadelphia.
Characterized by a superb sense of space and detail his art was recognized
by major American institutions and, by 1965, such major galleries as the
Boston Public Library, The Library of Congress, Washington, New York's
Metropolitan Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art had include examples
of his original etchings. The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, lists an impression
of Ron Kowalke's "Cape Cod Personage" in its permanent collection. |

In 1968, Ronald Kowalke moved to Honolulu, where he continues
to live and work. His art has for years received international attention
with exhibitions in Japan, Australia, England and Elsewhere. |

Cape Cod Personage was also given the alternate title, 'Edwin Dickman',
by Ronald Kowalke. It was published by the associated American Artists in New York in a signed edition of two hundred and fifty
impressions. It represents one of Ronald Kowalke's greatest images with its simplicity
of design juxtaposed to a penetrating portrayal of character. |

Cape Cod Personage was commissioned by the Associated
Artists of New York in a limited edition of 250 impressions. Since its
creation in the mid 1930's the A.A.A. commissioned original graphic art
from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh
and others. During the 1960's, major contributing artists included Jack
Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies James Kearns and Ronald Kowalke |

Printed on fine, smooth hand-made paper with an embossed
stamp in the lower left margin and with full margins as published in New
York in 1969. Signed, titled and numbered (165/250) in pencil along the
lower margin and also given the alternate title, 'Edwin Dickman', by the
artist . This is a superb impression and in excellent condition throughout.
Cape Cod Personage stands as a fine, original example of the art
of Ronald Kowalke. |
