Note: | Frederick Cecil Jones 'F. C. Jones': A Yorkshire painter, etcher and teacher, Frederick Cecil Jones received his education at the Bradford College of Arts, where he received two silver medals and one bronze medal. Frederick Cecil Jones was a frequent exhibitor at both the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy. As well his art was shown at major galleries in London, Bradford, Belfast, Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield. In 1937 two of his etchings were purchased by the Chantrey Bequest. |
In his etched art Frederick Jones concentrated mainly upon landscapes and town or city views. Bingley Bridge is annotated, "First Proof, First State", by the artist -- meaning that this was the first impression printed from the plate. | |
