This large and impressive collagraph was published in New York around 1970.
The collograph bears the distinct blindstamp of New York’s Copperstone Press in the lower right margin.
During the 1970’s, this publisher commissioned many fine works of original graphic art from leading
American printmakers. |

Love U.S.A. is an original collagraph, a masterpiece of the
finest qualities of modern printmaking techniques. A collagraph is created by using a variety
of materials which the artist affixes to a board. Once the collage is ready, the plate is
varnished and then painted or inked. The artist then applies paper over the
surface and uses a press or other had tools to produce a unique embossed work of art.
Here, Loran Janzen weaves a staggering image of colors, tones, forms and suggested shapes. What is
most impressive, however is the tactile, almost three dimensional qualities
of this original Collagraph. It is certainly one of the most captivating contemporary
works of art I have seen and clearly comes from a most skilled artist. |
