John Hogan: A contemporary American painter
and printmaker, John Hogan was born and raised near Monroe, Louisiana.
He received his Bachelor's degree from Northeast Louisiana State
University in 1961 and then moved to El Paso, where he set up a print
shop and gallery. John Hogan remained in El Paso for the following twenty
years and taught art techniques at Texas University. |

John Hogan completed his Master's degree in painting
and printmaking at New Mexico Highlands University (under Edward Schutz
and Elmer Schooley) and moved permanently to Santa Fe. The artist has
maintained a studio there since 1985. |

"Sundance Rides Again" combines overlaying patterns of colours
to create a haunting image of shadow and reflection. It clearly originates from the hand
of a gifted artist and is a fine example of the contemporary South Western American art by John Hogan. |

Printed upon fine mulberry (rice) paper and with wide, full margins and created by using multiple color printings. Signed, dated, titled and numbered '38/50' in pencil by the artist along the lower margin. Containing minor wear with a vertical crease along the left side (top to bottom) of the image, else a fine impression and in good condition throughout. "Sundance Rides Again stands as a most impressive, original example of the South Western American art of John Hogan. |
