From the Beginning

Werner Hoeflich's "From the Beginning" is both an accomplished and thought provoking work of art published in 1991. It is printed upon smooth, hand-made, laid paper with the 'B F K Rives, France' watermark and with full, deckled margins as published in New York in the limited edition of ninety impression. This original impression is signed, dated and numbered in pencil along the lower margin by the artist. "From the Beginning" represents a fine, original example of the lithographic art by the American artist, Werner Hoeflich and a masterpiece of 'Abstract Surrealist' art.

Note: Werner Hoeflich: A highly regarded contemporary painter and printmaker, Werner Hoeflich studied art at the University of Iowa (1975-76) and at the University of Colorado in Boulder (1979). Hoeflich moved to New York in 1984 and began regularly exhibiting his art at the Paolo Salvador and Penine Hart Galleries. During the 1990's he was also represented by the Nicholas Davies Gallery in New York and the Koplin Gallery in Los Angeles. Hoeflich's original lithographs have been included in major national and international shows in Washington, DC, Portland, Oregon, New York and London, England. He is currently Artist in Residence at the MacDowell Colony, New York State.
  Werner Hoeflich terms his art as, "Abstract Surrealist". To be sure, his highly evocative art expresses strong mystic or spiritual concerns. Even the titles he gives his most famous lithographs confirms this -- "From the Beginning", "Shadow of our Doubt", "Totems", "Evolution" and "Old Gods". These are all truly monumental works of art that explore our other existence.
  From the Beginning was created by Werner Hoeflich in 1991 and published in New York in a strictly limited edition of ninety numbered impressions and ten artist's proofs. From the Beginning is recognized as one of Hoeflich's greatest works of art to this day.
