Lawrence Heyman's original viscosity etching with embossing, Sunset II, dates from around 1965 to 1970. Much of the artist's creations in intaglio during this period employed the viscosity method, where the placement of colors on the plate is determined by the relative oiliness (or viscosity) of each colored ink. Embossing is also used throughout the plate, particularly along the lower plate mark, to delineate the water, coastal buildings and the ship to the lower right. This original etching is printed upon pure rag paper with the 'Arches France' watermark and with full, deckled margins. It is pencil signed, titled and annotated, "A/P", (Artist Proof Impressions) by the artist along the lower margin. Sunset II is a striking, original example of the graphic art created by the American artist, Lawrence Murray Heyman. |
