Herbert Johnson Harvey: A British portrait painter, etcher and metal
worker, Herbert Johnson Harvey was the son of the artist, John Rabone Harvey.
His art was regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy and other important
institutions. Today examples of his etched and engraved art are included
in public collections in Birmingham, London, Cheltenham and Hereford, as
well as in the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the University of
Michigan Museum of Art. |

Printed on wove paper and with margins extending about two inches from
the plate mark on all sides. Signed in the plate to the lower right and
signed and numbered, '16/40', by the artist in pencil along the lower margin.
Also, to the extreme lower left, H. J. Harvey has written, "Head Study
No. 2" . A finely printed impression with both full burr and plate tone
and in very good condition throughout. Head Study #2 represents a prime,
original example of the etched art of Herbert Johnson Harvey. |
