Henri-Charles Guerard's original etching, "Still Life", depicts an interesting combination of used and possibly cast-off articles. Here the artist has etched a used teacut and saucer, a teaspoon, an item wrapped up within a wrikled newspaper and a few other odd objects assembled in various positions. All this, along with the artist's superb applications of light and shade makes "Still Life" a work of art. It is surely a fine example the etched art created by this French artist. This etching is printed upon laid paper and with large margins as published in Paris around 1875. It is signed in the plate with Henri Guerard's 'H G' monogram to theupper right. |
