Carl Grupp: A contemporary American painter, lithographer and etcher,
Carl Grupp studied art at the School of Associated Arts, St. Paul (1959),
Minneapolis College of Art and Design (BFA, 1969-1964), Vrije Academie,
The Hague, Holland (1965) and Indiana University, Bloomington (MFA, 1967-1969).
At the latter university he served as a teaching assistant with Rudy Pozzatti
and Marvin Lowe. From 1969 to 2004, Carl Grupp has been a Professor of Art
at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His art today is will
be found in many public and corporate collections, including the Art Institute
of Chicago, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, California College of Arts
and Crafts, Oakland and the South Dakota Art Museum. |

in his original lithographs and etchings. Here the artist often includes
strongly detailed, often surprising elements, creating visual juxtapositions

Carl Grupp's original etching, "Small Bouquet" was
commissioned by the Associated American Artists. Founded in New York
in the mid 1930's, the Associated American Artists commissioned etchings,
woodcuts and lithographs from such prominent American masters as Grant Wood,
Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh, Marion Greenwood and many others.
Most of their published works were printed in limited, signed editions of 250. |

by the Associated American Artists of New York in 1974. A strongly printed impression and
in excellent condition throughout. Signed, titled and numbered, '110/250' by the artist in pencil along the
