Note:	Rudolf Grossmann: An early twentieth century German painter, etcher and lithographer, Rudolf Grossmann studied art at the Dusseldorf Academy and in Paris under Lucian Simon and Poulerauce. He then returned to Germany and lived in or near Berlin for the remainder of his life. Paris, however, was a second home to Rudolf Grossmann and he frequently visited the city to work and exhibit his art. There, his fellow artists and companions included Georg Grosz and Jules Pascin. He was also employed as a teacher in the French capital and taught printmaking techniques to Sonia Delaunay.
	A master of portraits, figure scenes landscapes and cityscapes, Rudolf Grossmann published his first etchings and lithographs around 1905. His art was commissioned by many major publishers in both Germany and France. Vor der Stadt (Near the City) was published in Berlin in 1910 by Zeitschrift fur Bildende Kunst. With its playful use of line and tone, its is a delightful example of Rudolf Grossmann's etched art. Today the art of Rudolf Grossmann is included in public museums in Berlin, Manheim and Paris.
