| Note: | The artist who created this beautiful nineteenth century watercolour remains a mystery. On the verso of the watercolour he or she titled, signed and dated the work, "G. L. J., Aug. 1872". A photograph of this writing is provided with the documentation. The artist was most probably English because of the use of such words as "near" and 'August'. The scene, however, is either German or Austrian with the Alps dominating the background. As well, the artist wrote the title on a separate slip of paper which is also provided. |

| Condition: | Painted upon nineteenth century laid watercolour paper and with full margins. Titled, monogrammed and dated by the artist on the verso. Apart from several very slight scratches and browning spots, this original watercolour is in excellent condition throughout and retaining all its fine range of colours and hues. Niedergrund near Koenigstein is a fine example of original nineteenth century watercolour art. |
