Eva Fischer's original color lithograph, La Bicicletta (The Bicycle), was published in a limited edition of one hundred signed impressions. In both her original prints and paintings Eva Fischer has become best known for her architectural depictions, scenes of markets and her famous images of bicycles. In a way, her bicycles seem to take on a life of their own, perhaps reflecting the souls of their owners. This particular impression of La Bicicletta hails from the collection of the actor, Vincent Price. When not busy starring in horror films, Vincent Price amassed a large and valuable collection of twentieth century art. After his death the collection was sold throughout the United States by Sears, Roebuck and Co. (The Sears Vincent Price Collection stickers for La Bicicletta are included with this purchase.) Other actors who collected the art of Eva Fischer include Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall. This is a fine, original example of the twentieth century art by the Yugoslav artist, Eva Fischer. |
