Note:	Hans Figura engraved and aquatinted views in almost every major European country and was a regular exhibitor in Paris, London, Vienna, Berlin and New York. The late 1920's marked a highpoint in his art. At this time, Hans Figura maintained studios in both New York and Vienna and created some of his most famous original aquatints and etchings during this period.
	The artistry of the original aquatint printed in colours reached its most creative era in the decades of the 1920's and 1930's. Accomplished artists from around the world practiced this demanding medium. The three greatest and most famous artists, however, were from Austria; Luigi Kasimir, T. F. Simon and Hans Figura. Each specialized in European and American city views and landscapes, combining etching and aquatinting with brilliant results. Hans Figura was as complex in his technique as any of these masters. In Flower Market on Ille de la Cite, Paris, with a view of Conciergie, for example, he layered aquatint grounds in reds, blues, greens and greys. The delicate skill and artistry that went into creating this original colour aquatint were, to say the least, intensive.

Condition:	Printed upon fine china paper and with full margins as published in Vienna around 1929. Very slight matte staining exists in the outer margins, else in excellent condition throughout. Signed by the artist in pencil and numbered 117/300 along the lower right margin. Because this original aquatint was published on delicate and fragile china paper very few impressions have survived in such a fine state of preservation as this example.
