Jack Coughlin's As I Wandered in the Dark is both an accomplished and intriguing work of art. As well as realistically portraying literary figures, musicians and animals, a continuing element in his art is the manner in which Coughlin metamorphoses objects, animals and humans to create both provoking and haunting imagery. This is clearly the case in this original etching and aquatint. This impression of As I Wandered in the Dark is printed upon thick, hand-made, laid paper and with full deckled margins as published between 1970 and 1980. It is signed, titled and annotated 'Artist's Proof', by Jack Coughlin in pencil along the lower margin. |
