Gianni Cacciarini's paintings and etchings are a major driving
force of contemporary Italian Realism. In Florence he first trained as
an architect as well as a painter and engraver. He also studied under the
portrait painter, Pietro Annigoni. Gianni Cacciarini's first published etchings
and engravings date from 1973. The following year he received an award
for his etched art from the Fourth International Biennial of Graphics at
the Palazzo Strozzi. Since then his fine etchings and paintings have been
included in major exhibitions in Rome, Florence, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam,
New York and elsewhere. |
|
Recently the art of Gianni Cacciarini was featured at an
exhibition at the Picker Art Gallery, Colgate University. For the exhibition
Mary Ann Calo wrote, |
|
"Gianni Cacciarini creates a personal universe ... His studio
in Florence has been described as a cluttered space in which objects dwell
' like words in a dictionary waiting to be used'. Invoking both the technical
perfection of 17th century painting and the so-called metaphysical vision
of early 20th century Italian modernism, these images are marked by a consistent
but strangely remote sense of the real." *
|
|
Today the fine art of Gianni Cacciarini is included in such
institutions as the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the National Gallery,
Washington DC, and the Uffizi, Florence. |
|
During the 1970's and early 1980's the Associated American
Artists of New York commissioned major American and International artists
for original graphic art. Most of their published works were printed in
limited, signed editions of 250. Fruit Bowl was commissioned by this publisher. |
