| Note: | Franco Bruna: A contemporary Italian painter, printmaker and illustrator, Franco Bruna is today recognized as one of that nation’s leading caricaturists. Beginning in 1972 Bruna began contributing his satirical art to such publications as "La Stampa" and "La Gazetta dello Sport". More recently he has been commissioned by such publications as "Topolino", "Airone" and "Panorama". His illustrated books include Torino Top and Tutto lo sport di Franco Bruna. In 1993 Franco Bruna received the Palma d'Oro al Salone dell' Umorismo di Bordighera. Other international awards followed in 1996 and 1997. |
| Pesae e stelle (Fish and Stars) (1966) dates from quite early in Franco Bruna’s artistic career. It was a published in a very small edition of fifteen numbered impressions in Turin by Galleria Viotti and bears this publisher’s blindstamp on the verso. It is a striking, original etching which clearly displays the artist’s grasp of line and form. | |

| Condition: | Printed upon fine hand-made laid paper and with wide, full margins as published in Turin in 1966. Signed, dated, titled and numbered '3/15' by the artist in pencil under the lower plate-mark. A superbly printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. Pesae e Stelle (Fish and Stars) is a fine, original example of the contemporary Italian art of Franco Bruna. |
