Colleen Browning's famous art has been compared
to both the social realism of Jack Levine and the magic realism of Philip
Evergood and George Tooker. Yet she has always maintained a most individual
stamp that sets her apart from any prevailing fashion. No doubt, the 'unexpected
revelation' of Odalisque is how in such simplicity of design there
can be such magnificent sensuality. |
