Dutchman III is one of Harvey Breverman's most compelling
etchings. Like most of his great figure and portrait studies it is also
a penetrating examination of the human condition. Dutchman III
was commissioned by the Associated American Artists of New York in 1967
and published by them in a signed edition of 250 impressions. Since its
creation in the mid 1930's, the Associated American Artists was responsible
for commissioning original graphic art from such great American masters
as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton and Reginald Marsh. In the 1950's and
1960's it continued to provide outstanding graphics by such artists as
Chaim Koppelman, Harvey Breverman, Jack Levine and many other great American
and international printmakers. |
