Lars Bo: One of Denmark's finest twentieth century
painters and printmakers, Lars Bo moved to Paris in the early 1950's to
study art and printmaking techniques at the famous Atelier 17, under the
directorship of Stanley William Hayter. Lars Bo began a long and successful
career as an artist of the illustrated book in 1952. Between that date
and 1996 he produced etchings and aquatints for many great illustrated
books. Some of his greatest work in this field is for classic editions
of Hans Christian Andersen. |
|
Lars Bo began exhibiting his individual prints and paintings
in Paris in 1954. Shortly thereafter he became a leading artist for the
French periodical, Le Monde. By 1960 the artist had established an international
reputation (especially for his original prints) and exhibitions of his
art were held in England, the United States and Japan. |

Associated American Artists of New York: Fantasy
Landscape was commissioned by the Associated American
Artists of New York between 1960 and 1970 in a sole limited edition of

Artists commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant
Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings
and lithographs of no less stature during the 1960's as contributing artists
included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns,
Leonard Lehrer and Sidney Chafetz, as well as a number of fine, international
artists. During this period Lars Bo contributed at least three original
aquatints to this publisher. |
